LaTeX, Emacs etc. for your PC

LaTeX, Emacs (with AucTeX), Bibtex, Makeindex, Yap, Ghostview and other programs make up a powerful system for typesetting text. And it is FREE!!! (except for the many hours spent by the many amazing enthusiasts developing the programs). It is far more flexible than eg. Microsoft Word, however one may argue that it is not as user-friendly, depending on the definition of this word. In my opinion, LaTeX is the only choice when typesetting mathematics and large reports.

With this web-page, I try to make it easy to install/update an integrated LaTeX/Emacs system on a PC with Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP. I am inspired by the system on the Unix network at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Aalborg University, Denmark. I hope that the instructions will be helpful in setting up your system.

I am not an expert, so I have tried to collect information from various sources on the Internet. Please, refer to the links I supply for more information.

The installation/update instructions are split up in modules, which I try to update when new versions are published. Please, notify me, if my versions are obsolete.

Of course, I will be happy if you let me know of any errors related to my page.
