Education: Moscow State University, faculty of mathematics (mech-math), department of geometry and topology, graduated in 1978. Postgraduate studies at the same University: 1978--1981.

Degrees: Ph.D. from the department of mathematics of Moscow University in 1983. The thesis, "On some versions of the C-spectral sequence", written under the guidance of Prof. A.M.Vinogradov, was dedicated to the study of algebro-topological invariants of differential equations and foliations. Thesis referees: professors A.S.Schwarz, V.V.Lychagin.
Dr.Sci. (second doctorate): Petersburg State University, 2011. Thesis: Combinatorial aspects of Vassiliev knot invariants (in Russian). Thesis referees: O.Viro, I.Dynnikov, A.Omelchenko, reference of the leading organization (Independent University of Moscow) written and signed by V.Vassiliev and M.Tsfasman.

Employment history

Current principal job (since January 2001): senior researcher, laboratory of representation theory and dynamical systems (A.M.Vershik's lab) at St.Petersburg Division of the Steklov Mathematical Institute.

Current auxiliary positions: professor at Independent University of Moscow (part-time), (details are available here); professor (part-time) at Fizmatclub; principal researcher (part-time) at the All-Russia Research Institute of Sea Fleet.

August 1985 -- December 2000: Program Systems Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Pereslavl-Zalessky. Since 1986 I was a Senior Researcher and since 1991, head of a laboratory.

September 1994 -- December 2000: University of Pereslavl, associate professor of mathematics (teaching materials are available here).

September 1992 -- June 1993 (part-time): Moscow Higher Chemical College, lecturer in discrete mathematics.

1982 -- 1985: Mogilev Pedagogical Institute, assistant professor (undergraduate lecturing in geometry and algebra).

Personal information: married to Olga Muravtsova, two sons (Fedor, b. 1978, Vassili, b. 1987). Fedor is a lecturer in mathematics at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Vassili is a PhD student at CUHK, Hong Kong, specialization: signal and image processing.
