8TH SUMMER ST.PETERSBURG MEETING
IN MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS
Euler Mathematical Institute, June 21-25, 1999
Third (and final) announcement
1. Location
The conference will be held at the Euler Institute (St. Petersburg, Pesochnaya
nab., 10). The place is near the river Malaya Nevka, at equal distance
(15-20 min. of walk) from the metro stations "Petrogradskaya" and
"Chernaya Rechka".
A picture of the EIMI is available at
http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/imiaddr.html
2. Accommodation
For the persons who asked for this in the registration form, rooms have been
reserved at the hotel "Leningrad Dvorets Molodezhi (LDM)" ("Palace of
Youth").
Its address is
ul. Professora Popova, 47.
This is at a walking distance from the Euler Institute. If you need a hotel
room but did not tell about this to the staff of the Euler Institute,
please, contact Mrs. Elena Novikova
novikova@pdmi.ras.ru
immediately.
Please, take into account that the prices were slightly changed.
You can look at the new pricelist at
http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/ldm.html.
LDM Hotel accepts the following credit cards: VISA, MASTER, EURO, MOST.
3. Transportation
Please, give the details of your arrival (company, flight, scheduled time,
etc.) to Mrs. Novikova, so that we could arrange a car from the Euler
Institute to pick you up at the "Pulkovo" international airport.
(Look for the poster "Euler International Mathematical Institute").
Alternatively, you may take the bus no.13 at "Pulkovo" international terminal,
or a sity bus at the domestic terminal, which will bring you to the metro
station "Moskovskaya". It takes about 30 minutes to reach the stations
"Petrogradskaya" and "Chernaya Rechka" (by a direct train). From both
stations you may take the bus no.25, which circulates between these two
metro stations and has a stop near the hotel "Dvorets Molodezhi".
NIS-participants who come by train may easily use metro - every railway
station has a nearby metro station.
4. Registration
On June 21, the participants accomodated at "Dvorets Molodezhi" are
kindly adviced to gather at 8:55 at the reception (a breakfast, paid by the
conference, will be arranged for them). Registration desk will be open
at the Euler Institute from 9:30. The conference will open at 10:00.
The participants who plan to arrive later may register during the breaks.
Participants from the institutions of the CIS-countries and students do not
pay the registration fee. For the other participants, the fee of $30 should
be paid at the registration desk in cash. There is no fee for accompanying
persons.
5. Meals
Breakfasts (at 9:15), lunches (at 13:30) and dinners (at about 18:00) will
be served for the participants at the canteen of the "Statistical Office"
(a bilding on a half-way between the hotel and the Euler Institute). The
price of the meals ($9 = 225 rub. per day) probably will be partly covered
by the conference. Also, coffee and tea will be available at the Euler
Institute (free of charge).
6. Lectures
There will be, presumably, three 45-minutes lectures from 10:00 to 13:00 in
the morning, and several 25-minutes talks from 15:00 to 18:00 in the afternoon
(except Wednesday afternoon, see the next section).
IMPORTANT! THE PARTICIPANTS WHO INTEND TO GIVE A TALK BUT HAVE NOT SUBMITTED
either the TITLE or (more important) the ABSTRACT
ARE KINDLY REQUESTED TO SEND US THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
7. Excursion
A bus excursion to Pavlovsk (a tsar residence) will be scheduled for
Wednesday afternoon. The rent of a bus will be paid by the organizers,
but not the tickets to the park and the palace.
8. Money
US dollars, German marks, and Finnish marks are exchanged by all the
exchange offices; however other currencies may cause some difficulties
(bad rate or no bank to exchange). Now the average rate is 24.50 RBL for
1 USD. Personal and Traveller's checks, as well as Credit cards,
are usually accepted at all major banks in the city.
Be careful TO AVOID exchanging your currency NEAR exchange offices.
9. Wheather
The wheather is variable. Average temperature of June is about 15C.
So, usually it is about 20C during the day. It may be rainy.
