Visa Information
Nationals of most countries (including EU countries and the U.S.)
require visas in order to travel to Russia.
Once in Russia, registration is also necessary (usually at the hotel).
Visa requirements and fees vary from country to country; please check
with the Russian embassy in your country of residence.
The Euler Institute
staff will be happy to assist you with visa arrangements.
The two main options is getting a tourist visa
(single entry) and getting
a business visa (which can be single, double or multiple entry);
see e.g.
this link for the explanation of the difference between
these types of visa.
Tourist visa
Tourist visas can be obtained on a commercial basis at many
tourist agencies in your country. You may find this
to be the easiest option; in this case you will not
need any help from us.
You can also obtain a tourist visa
at the Russian embassy in your country of residence.
In this case you will need an invitation.
Such an invitation can be arranged by the
Euler Institute staff;
this involves a fee of approx. 400-500 RUB which will be added
to your registration fee.
Normally it suffices to have a copy
(not necessarily the original) of the invitation
in order to get a tourist visa.
Such a copy can be sent to you as a scanned pdf file.
Business visa for residents of the EU countries
In order to obtain a business visa (at the Russian embassy
in your country of residence)
you will need an official invitation from the Euler Institute.
Such an invitation can be provided by the
Euler Institute staff free of charge. However,
you will need an original of this invitation in order
to obtain a visa. The original will be sent by an express
mail, which costs approx. 200 RUB
(prices vary depending on your country of residence)
which will be added
to your registration fee.
Business visa for non-EU residents
In order to obtain a business visa (at the Russian embassy
in your country of residence)
you will need an official invitation from the Russian
ministry of interior.
Such an invitation can be obtained by the
Euler Institute staff, although this involves
a certain administrative effort;
this route should be avoided unless it's
necessary.
Obtaining such an invitation costs 200 RUB and takes at least 4-6 weeks.
In many cases, a copy of this invitation suffices
(please check with the Russian embassy);
such a copy will be sent to you as a scanned pdf file.
If the original is required, this adds the postage
(depending on your country of residence)
to the charge.
Police Registration
Once in Russia, all foreign nationals need to register.
This is usually done at your hotel and costs
about 1000 RUB.
The Euler Institute staff can assist you with this.
