SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
St. Petersburg State University,
Steklov Institute of Mathematics at St. Petersburg (POMI),
St. Petersburg Mathematical Society, and
Euler International Mathematical Institute
organize the conference
"TOPOLOGY AND DYNAMICS: ROKHLIN MEMORIAL"
devoted to the 80th anniversary of the birthday of
Vladimir A. Rokhlin (1919-1984).
The conference will take place on August 19-25, 1999 in the Euler
Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia.

PROGRAMME OF THE CONFERENCE
The main subjects of the conference are:
algebraic and differential topology,
algebraic, real algebraic, and Riemannian geometry,
smooth and symplectic dynamics, ergodic theory,
applications.
We are planning 4 sections:
- Topology of manifolds and varieties.
- Real algebraic geometry.
- Riemannian and symplectic geometry.
- Dynamical systems and ergodic theory.
The programme will consist of 1-hour plenary talks, 45-minute
section talks, and 25-minute communications.
LIST OF PARTICIPANTS
The following people have already expressed an explicit interest in attending
the conference. The list does not include the members of the Programme
Committee and many mathematicians from St. Petersburg. The current list of
possible participants and preliminary titles of some talks are available
on the World Wide Web
http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/1999/rokhlin/list.html.
Local Organizing Committee:
N. Netsvetaev, A. Vershik (chairman),
O. Viro, M. Zvagel'skii.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND TALKS
For submission of abstracts we decided to use facilities of Atlas Mathematical
Conference Abstracts. If you wish to present a talk, please, submit
before May 31, 1999 an extended (up to two pages) abstract (either plain ASCII
or TeX) via
http://at.yorku.ca/cgi-bin/amca/submit/cacy-01
If the Programme Committee accept your talk, your abstract will become
available to everyone via
http://at.yorku.ca/cgi-bin/amca/cacy-01
The Proceedings of the conference will be published in a separate volume.
The full papers to be published in the Proceedings should be sent to the
address:

CONFERENCE FEE
Participation fee is 150$ (with 3 meals a day) and 100$
(without meals).
It should be paid on arrival.
SUPPORT
We are awaiting a certain financial support from INTAS, East Committee
of EMS, and RFBR, which in particular will cover a part of expenses of
participants involved in the INTAS projects and participants from Russia.
We also hope to be able to support participants from countries in difficult
economic situation and young mathematicians, and to reduce the conference
fee for them.
LODGING
The meeting will take place in the building of the Euler International
Mathematical Institute (EIMI), and also in the St. Petersburg State
University and in the Steklov Institute of Mathematics in the special
occasions.
We suggest that all participants stay in nearby (10 minutes walk) hotel of
the LDM
("Lenigradskii Dvorets Molodezhi") which is the standard place of living
for visitors to the EIMI.
REGISTRATION
You can register either on-line via
http://www.pdmi.ras.ru/EIMI/1999/rokhlin/form.html
or by filling in and e-mailing the registration form. Upon registration,
the Organizing Committee will send an official invitation required for
application for a visa. This process takes some time so we suggest you to
register as soon as possible, that is even before confirmation of acceptance
of your talk. The deadline for registration is May 31, 1999.
All correspondence connected with the Conference should be addressed to
